Another week of meeting interesting people. No one stands out as especially worthy of note, it's just been a week of 'business as usual'. One thing we did on Saturday night was a lot of fun. We decided to have a 'graduation party' with all our Chinese students who have finished the workshop series in the past few weeks. It was great fun. Even though they weren't all in the same class, it didn't take long for everyone to get to know each other! We made sweet and sour pork and dumplings for the main course. All the students brought various contributions of food and drink. A good time was had by all!

Making dumplings... now I know how to make them with fancy edges! |

See the girl in the red? The guy next to her called us the next day to get her phone number, he wanted to ask her out! |
We met with three different stake presidencies this week. We are getting ready to go to the next step here and expand the teaching pool from just us to having the stakes take over the teaching and training of people within their areas. We asked each stake president to call a Self-Reliance Director. This person will be trained by us and will take over setting up and directing the teaching within their areas. The areas of the stakes varies widely, the biggest one is 45 km by 120 km, with a mountain range dividing the area. Pretty challenging to manage and keep up with. We are meeting with three other stake presidents this week and still have two more to go to get the whole Sydney area organized. We're planning to meet with all the directors the first part of June and do training and hope to get them all started working within their own areas by July. Until then, we will be on the road a lot taking care of business. We had to travel up north on Monday. It was nice to get away from the office and from the city for a few hours. We took the coastal highway on the way home and stopped at a couple of beaches and overlooks. It is certainly beautiful over here! The pictures, of course, don't begin to do justice to the actual beauty of the area. It's late fall now, so the weather is getting much colder, but still it is only jacket weather. Most days are clear and sunny. I much prefer this weather to the oppressive heat and humidity we had when we first moved here! I'm definitely not a jungle girl.

Grandkids:
I thought you might find it interesting that the Australians don't call a shopping cart the same thing we call it in the US. Over here, a shopping cart is called a trolly!
I told Lydia I would write about the penguins in Australia. I took this picture a long time ago when we went to the animal park. Until we went to the animal park, I did not know that Australia had penguins! These little guys are so cute. We got to watch them at feeding time. Here they all are lined up waiting for their dinner to come.
Sydney Harbor has tiny penguins too:
Here is a little video:
I hope you all have a great week! We miss you. I wish we could take you to all the places I write about.
