December 8 2014

Due to our crazy schedule and how busy everything has been lately, I really don't have much to report that is of interest to anyone besides another Self Reliance missionary. However, we did do a couple of fun things over the weekend. Most of these pictures though will probably only be interesting to my grandkids!
Grandpa is the fire warden of our building!  That means that when we have fire alarms, he has to go through the building and make sure everyone is out and that all the doors are closed. Then he has to come outside and check to make sure we all made it to the 'safety area' underneath the big pine tree.  He takes his job very seriously and keeps us all safe from fire!

Here's our Christmas tree!  Our house is so little that we don't have room for a tree, so we just got a little fake tree that we keep at the office.  Lydia, Luke, and Ian made us snowflake decorations with everyone's pictures on them, so we feel close to you all at Christmastime.

This is the Lego Christmas tree downtown, it's built totally of Legos.
Here is a You Tube video of the company assembling the tree.    http://globalnews.ca/news/1705795/watch-incredible-time-lapse-of-lego-christmas-tree-built-in-australia/

They have lots of play areas set up around the Lego tree and kids get to play with Legos as long as they want to!

We went to one of the big indoor markets while we were downtown. These next few pictures were taken at the butcher and fish markets.  Take a look at these chicken feet.  How would you like your mom to buy a bunch of these and cook them up. Grandpa had lots of these when he lived in Taiwan. The Chinese love to make Chicken Feet soup.  Shall I get the recipe and make you some when I get home??

The Chinese also love to eat chicken necks.

How about some of these for dinner?? How does a nice dinner of slimy baby octopus sound?

Grandpa said he remembers eating lots of fish heads when he was in Taiwan. The Chinese like fish head soup. I don't think I would like the eyes looking at me from out the the soup. How about you?

Grandpa and I walked across the Harbor Bridge and then took the ferry back to downtown Sydney.

Here's a picture of the ferry dock and the ferry we rode back into town.
